We always hear from great personas of being content and still strive for the best. Is it the gift of those blessed soul to be under that state? or did they pursue this art of being content as a craft for mastery.
Honestly in this modern age boundaries always blur between different metaphors that one needs to master.
We always believe in the facts sold by ones own past living.
We always hear about accomplishments and see virtuosos of others as lacking in ones self.
We are always ambitious about best version of our selfs.
But most of the persons like me fails to convert their ambition in to execution.
We are brilliant at one thing but that might not be market rewarding.
We tend to fit in to obligation driven job which is rewarding. But we feel insecure , false promises and faking things. In the process this kills the creative juices.
Technology is dramatic and its always how fast you learn and implement a specific skill . It's all rewarding and growth in the skill set. This is never ending process. So we always toggle between our interests and obligations. Not every one will have a privilege of personal interests and obligations same. Some chaps are really blessed and works very hard and breathe their life in pursuing new skills and do wow jobs in their profession. These are the folks whose personal interests and obligations are one.
There are many self help books and legendary persons teach us to turn up to what we aim for .
If you are thinking about a certification or new skill, I am not talking about them. Its the vision of ones dream self a decade from now, live in that space-->live in those thoughts-->Train in that direction. To beat this we need to develop a framework to protect our creative juices and grow in both directions. Its not an easy thing, but we can achieve it.
Example if your profession and your creative pursuits are different then its an indicator that we need to burn the candle to save ones self. Rewrite your plan of execution. Think about the person you want to become, write down the framework that is needed for you to be that person. We always study frameworks, but this time write your framework. Let me tell your my short tidbit
I want to become an author and an ethical software engineer leading teams and serving people. Can I shine in both directions? How much time can I spend with my family. Sometimes frustrated in the pursuit of preparing my craft. Achieving balance is not an easy tale to sell. So I follow fusion approach which works for me. I do the blending. I will be honest to my work and complete my deliverables thats only possible when my creative side is happier . I use the phrases and use that an umbrella to group my pursuits and hone my weak areas.
"Invoke the Beast in you"
This is the term I rehearse attend a production issue or do something which I am weak at for a deliverable. Because attending above tasks triggers human false positive of fear which I realised one should not buy in to.
"You are not the inventor"
I use this term to say to my self, there are inventors in the market. I should not be proud enough to demonstrate ego of knowing a thing which no body else in my team knows and having a skill which is lagged in other member in the team.
"Sip and Learn"
I picked this from Atomic Habits we always need to pair up a learning habit with a daily act . Buy a candle that burns say for 40hrs. Every day lit it before you start your craft and turn off once done. You will see the difference once the candle is burned . I recommend buy two candles one for your profession and the other you know about it :)
I am work in process product you can learn from my shortfalls so thats my take away. I am sure you do have better version of framework. Please do share
Helpful insight..i need to burn my candle
